Weekly sessions in the SewGreen studio feature projects, activities, and creative explorations in fashion, sewing, and what's involved in designing clothing. To mix things up a little, some sessions will be reserved for open sews and getting help with individual projects. Preregistration and confirmation of attendance are required, so we know how many "style engineers" to expect. DATES: Every Friday, 6 to 8 pm, starting Feb 24

Growing Up with SewGreen

Many of the faces you'll see on our website are of kids and teens who have spent time at SewGreen first as students, then apprentices or camp counselors, and sometimes as paid workers. We mentor, teach, and work with young people from age 8 to college-age and beyond. It is not unusual for us to have relationships that continue to grow year after year. SewGreen is a safe haven and home-away-from-home for any young person who wants to learn, and may need our friendship and support.

We especially welcome teens, who can get involved through self-referral, volunteering, taking classes, and getting a job placement through a local youth agency. SewGreen partners with The Learning Web, Learning Web Outreach, Ithaca Youth Bureau, JOBLink, New Roots Charter School, and other schools to offer young people unique opportunities. Contact our Director for more info.
