SewGreen classes
are open to everyone. They take place in our classroom or design studio
at 112-114 North Cayuga Street in downtown Ithaca. Everything is supplied,
including a sewing machine to use in the classes. Pre-registration is
required. Scholarships are available.

FOR
KIDS
Saturday Start-Up
AGES 8 to 12, BEGINNERS
Kids with little or no sewing experience will learn to safely use a sewing
machine and complete a variety of projects, including a drawstring backpack,
patchwork pillow, and a stuffed animal they design themselves. This three-part
series is offered Saturday mornings, 10 am to noon, on Feb 4, 11, and
18; repeated March 3, 10, and 17; and again May 5, 12, and 19. $75 per
series.
Creative
Kids
AGES 8 to 10 (grades 3, 4, and 5), ONGOING
For elementary school children who have sewn with us before, this ongoing
group explores many areas of creative sewing, often following a theme
from nature, history, or art. Offered Friday afternoons, 4 to 5:30 pm,
in six-week blocks. Kids can join at the start of any block. $120 per
block.

Vacation
Sewing Camp
AGES 8 to 10, BEGINNERS & ONGOING
Any child in third, fourth, or fifth grade is welcome at this vacation
day camp. Kids will explore machine and hand sewing, knitting, and creative
crafts in a friendly and entertaining environment. Three days: Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday, 10 am to 3 pm, February 21 through 23. Kids need
to bring their own lunches. $150 includes materials and healthy snacks.

Let’s Sew It!
AGES 11 to 13 (grades 6, 7, 8) BEGINNERS & ONGOING
For middle school kids with an interest in a wide range of sewing projects,
including some they invent themselves. Both beginners and those who have
sewn with us before are welcome. Offered Monday afternoons, 4 to 6 pm, in
six-week blocks. Tweens can join at the start of any block. $120 per block.

Fashion
Focus
AGES 11 to 13 (grades 6, 7, 8) ONGOING
For middle school kids who have sewn with us before, this group’s
focus is on fashion design and developing sewing skills needed to make apparel.
Offered Friday afternoons, 4 to 6 pm, in six-week blocks. Tweens can join
at the start of any block. $120 per block.

ADULTS & TEENS
Our Basic Sewing classes are for anyone 13 and up who wants to learn to
sew with a machine. These 2-hour classes provide essential skills and
knowledge. Each class is offered multiple times during the semester. Take
one, two, or all three classes. $22 per class, $60 for all three.

Sewing I
Learn to use a sewing machine and make a simple tote bag. Offered 6:30
to 8:30 pm, on Wednesday, Feb 1; repeated Tuesday, Feb 28; Thursday, March
22; Wednesday, April 18; Tuesday, May 8
Basic
Sewing II
Review sewing machine skills and make a bib apron. Offered 6:30 to 8:30
pm on Wednesday, Feb 8; repeated Tuesday, March 6; Thursday, March 29;

Basic Sewing III
Learn to measure, cut, and sew a tetra bag with a zipper. Offered 6:30
to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb 15; repeated Tuesday, March 13; Thursday,
April 5; Wednesday, May 2; Tuesday, May 22
One-Hour
Skirt
For those who have taken Basic I, II, and III, this class shows how to
take measurements, make your own pattern, and complete a pencil skirt
with a back-centered zipper. The class lasts three hours, but once you
know how, you can make this skirt in an hour! Offered 1 to 4 pm, Saturday,
Feb 25; repeated Saturday, March 31; and Saturday, April 21.
Figure
Drawing for Fashion
Build competency in drawing the clothed figure, learn shortcuts to fashion
drawing, design your own croquis (templates for sketching clothing designs),
make a “mood board,” and generally have fun developing your
own unique style of fashion illustration. Six-class series, offered Thursday
evenings, 6:30 to 8:30, Feb 2, 9, 16 and March 1, 8, 15; repeated Thursday
April 19, 26 and May 3, 10, 17, and 24. $150 per series includes materials. |

EVERYONE
Make Your Own Doll Clothes
We invite doll-clothes lovers age 8 to adult to join this three-class
series on making simple clothing for American Girl or similar 18-inch
dolls. Kids, tweens, and teens must have sewn with us before, and adults
must have experience sewing on a machine. If you don’t have a doll,
you may borrow one of ours to model your creations. Offered Saturdays,
from 1 to 3 pm, Feb 11, 18, and 25. $75 per person for the series. $125
for parent-child pairs. |
